Skibbereen

The Tour starts with a visit to Skibbereen Heritage Centre to discover the horrifying story of the Great Famine of 1845 – 1849 and the impact it had on Skibbereen and its locality. Also discover the unique Lough Hyne, Ireland’s first Marine Nature Reserve and its unique salt-water lake. On leaving the Heritage Centre, take a visit to the Great Famine Burial Pit in the Abbeystrewry Cemetery and then visit Lough Hyne and the beautiful coastal village of Baltimore. On returning to Skibbereen, the tour makes its way on a brief historic tour of the town and concludes with a visit to the West Cork Distillery renowned for distilling the Michael Collins Whiskey, Garnish Island Gin and other West Cork whiskeys and spirits. The Tour concludes with a return trip to accommodation.
